This house was flooded due to heavy rains.

Summer storms seen to pop up in Kentucky unexpectedly this time of year. Some can be a short burst of rain while others can dump several inches in a short period of time. 

A little preparation can assist in making this easier to deal with. Here are a few tips that may help:

• Review your insurance policy-
  • Contact your agent to ensure you have proper coverage.  
  • Knowing what is covered and policy limits if crucial.
• Keep gutters clean of debris, and make sure that they are diverted away from the structure. 
• Periodically check your sump pump- 
  • Clean the float. 
  • Check the battery backup.
  • Make sure it is plugged in.
