April Showers may very well bring May flowers but it can also bring damage to homes and businesses. There are many things you can do to help minimize your risk of damage with just small preventative measures.
1. Trim shrubs and trees near home.
2. Check your gutters. Make sure they are clean and flowing freely.
3. Clear the lawn of any debris. Make sure there is no collection of leaves, etc. against or near foundation.
4. Caulk windows and doors. This can help prevent leaks that cause damage.
5. Inspect your roof. No matter the type, roofing materials can be weakened over winter months.
6. Review your insurance coverage. Do you have flood? Do you have back up sewage/wastewater?
7. Check your sump pump. Run through a basic maintenance check list.
